Program Information

There’s always something happening in our Active Adults Program! Our luncheons feature live entertainment and outstanding menu items. Several times a month, we offer our themed Bingo parties and our Bunco & Brunch game days.

We welcome you to our Active Adults program, where we believe you will meet new friends and enjoy yourself.  See our current program guide for all Active Adults programs for this season.

A Veterans Park District Active Adult is Anyone Age 55 and Better. This is not affiliated with senior clubs. Registration is required in advance for all VPD Active Adult events. Please call (708) 343 5270.

WOW Women on Wednesdays

Research shows that support groups can have a positive impact on mental health, emotional well-being, and overall quality of life. By joining our monthly support group, you can reduce feelings of isolation, build a sense of community, and foster new friendships that can last a lifetime. Our WOW support group provides a safe and nurturing space for you to share your thoughts, feelings, and fears with others who can offer empathy and support. Engage in meaningful conversations, learn coping strategies, and gain valuable insights from fellow members.
Join us and discover the power of connection and support in this wonderful stage of life. This will take place on the third Wednesday of each month. Participants should be able to commit to attending monthly.

NEW! Social Club

Age 55 or better and looking to connect with others?

The VPD Social Club is the perfect place to build community, share laughs, and soak up the joy of summer together. Starting in June join us at the Grant Park Recreation Center on the third Friday of each month at 10 AM in Trevino Hall or on the patio.

Enjoy light summer snacks, refreshing treats and warm, friendly conversation in a relaxed, sunny atmosphere. It’s a great way to stay social, make new friends, and brighten your week.

Just drop in and join the fun! No registration required!

Crafts & Coffee

Enjoy coffee and sweet rolls, while you create and socialize with your friends. New, easy to follow crafting projects each month. All materials supplied by Veterans Park District.

Films with Friends

Enjoy some hot freshly popped popcorn, light snacks and beverages, while watching a film with your friends.

Fee: FREE for residents of Veterans Park District. Non-Residents $5 charge.

Games Galore

If you enjoy card games, Bunco, or board games, this program is perfect for you! Designed for those who love socializing, you can join in the games or simply chat with friends. Coffee, tea, and light snacks will be provided.

Bingo with Lunch

Visit with friends, and play Bingo! Lunch meal and 1 Bingo card included. Prizes for winners.

Breakfast Club

Enjoy a light continental breakfast buffet while socializing with friends, then take part in a fun mix of Bingo and large-scale games such as bowling, Plinko, cornhole “bags” and Wheel of Fortune, all played for prizes. Registration deadline is the Wednesday before.

Chair Yoga

A gentle yoga class that is designed to maintain healthy joints, muscular flexibility, strength, balance, and coordination. Poses can be done using a chair or free-standing according to your abilities.

Fee: 55 & Older — pay $2 drop-in fee, no registration  needed.
Under 55 — register and pay $40R/$55 NR (five-week sessions)

Seniors Clubs

Senior Clubs are a wonderful opportunity to meet new people and get together with old friends. Enjoy laughs and good times, that will keep you feeling young. Senior clubs offer parties, luncheons, songs, community information and Bingo! Some clubs even offer outings. Veterans Park District supports both clubs. Veterans Park Bulger Seniors

Located at 1601 Hirsch Street, Melrose Park

Bulger Senior Club meets the fourth Wednesday of the month, 12-2 PM. If you are in the district and would like to be a Bulger Senior club member stop by on the fourth Wednesday of the month. The annual fee is $12 (January–December). The club charges extra for monthly lunch and Bingo cards.
The President is Patty McDonnell.

Veterans Park Grant Park Seniors

Located at 44 W. Golfview Drive, Northlake

Northlake Seniors meet twice a month, on the first and third Thursday of each month, 12-3 PM. The fee is $5 with separate charges for parties and outings.
