Veterans Park District received a Park District Improvement Grant to assist in the planting of a pollinated garden at Bataan Park Community Gardens. The grant encourages the importance of nurturing ecological diversity. The pollinated garden was planted and maintained, in partnership with Jane Addams students, VPD Summer Day Campers, community garden residents and Veterans Park District Maintenance Department during the summer and early fall. The pollinated project included planting, watering, refreshing soil, deadheading, pruning and weeding. Veterans Park District Maintenance Department will continue to assist in the long-term planting of pollinating seeds and the maintenance of the area.
