Veterans Park District was recently awarded an Illinois Department of Natural Resources/Open Space Land Acquisition & Development (IDNR/OSLAD) grant for our renovation project at Gouin Park, in Franklin Park. The renovation is scheduled to begin in late fall 2024, to be completed by summer 2025.
The project includes new ADA wheelchair accessible playground equipment, poured in rubber surface, a custom canopy shade picnic area, concrete patio and walkway, an outdoor fitness equipment area, five LED decorative security lighting, landscaping with an emphasis on planting native vegetation, (including shrubs, grasses and a butterfly garden), park benches, picnic tables and memorial brick pavers.
Olsen Park in Melrose Park, is also getting an all “New Look”. Renovation, starting in late fall, will include a new design, renovated ADA poured in rubber playground and decorative landscaping.
An ornamental fence and new decorated brinks were recently installed around the perimeter of the Gouin pool located in Franklin Park.
