On July 6 2022, Village of Melrose Park Mayor Ronald M. Serpico, Veterans Park District Board of Commissioners, President Tom Olsen, Veterans Park District Executive Director Bill Otte, Veterans Park District Superintendent of Building and Grounds, Retired Veterans Park District Executive Director, Donna L. Peluso, and Veterans Park District Summer Day Campers participated in a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the opening of the newly renovated Bataan Park located in Melrose Park. Bataan Park renovations include: a new parking lot, new poured in rubber ADA playground, walking track, Pickle Ball Courts, Community Gardens, outdoor exercise equipment, and a new outdoor restroom facility.
