Youth Athletics

Program Information

Veterans Park District Youth Athletics program provides age-appropriate instruction in a fun, positive learning environment. Teamwork and good sportsmanship are stressed. All programs are co-ed. Check our program guide for a complete list of Youth Athletic offerings with dates and time of programs.

sports Camp

Ages 8-12

One-week long camp playing a variety of sports each day. First half of the day is an introduction to the sport and skill/drills. Second half of the day is non-competitive scrimmage games. Please send your child with a lunch each day. Lunch will be from 11-11:30 AM.

Summer Basketball Clinics

Age 7-10 and 11-14

These 4-week basketball clinics focus on increasing basketball skills. Coach Vince Rociola will start the day with warm ups, drills and moving right into scrimmage games.

Dates: Jun 7-28 and Jul 19-Aug 9

Baseball

Age: 8-12

This slow-paced class covers the basic skills/drills of baseball, including throwing, catching, fielding, and hitting. Please bring a baseball bat and glove.

Dates: Jun 5-26 and Jul 17-Aug 7

Soccer

Age: 8-12

VPD staff will lead players in specific drills, while they improve their overall understanding of the game. Each class lasts for one hour. During this time players rotate through different stations and drills.

Dates: Jun 6-27 and Jul 18-Aug 8

Sand Volleyball

Age: 8-12

Come on out to Gouin Park Sand Volleyball Court for this fun class!  In this class participants play up to 11 games with a partner, or 3 v 3.  Class meets at the sand volleyball court each week.

Dates:  June 3-24 and Jul 15-Aug 5

Youth Bocce

Age 8-12

This class meets at Bulger Park Bocce Courts. Led by our Bocce League Coordinator Vince Rociola this class will cover the basics of bocce ball.

Dates: Jun 4-25  and  Jul 16-Aug 6

Youth Fitness

Youth Boxing

Age 12-18

Learn the basics of boxing. Participants will practice how to throw a variety of punches, foot-work, and timing, as well as the strategy involved with the sport of boxing.

Dates: May 21-Jun 18 and Jul 2-30
